The Importance of Sponsoring Yagyas for the Ancestors During Mahalaya Paksha

The dark fortnight of Asweja, known as the Mahalaya Paksha, starts on September 23rd this year. This two-week period is dedicated to sacred offerings to the dead ancestors' souls.

The Vedic tradition points to two spiritual reasons for everyday problems: the planets; and the departed spirits of our ancestors. It is believed that dead ancestors can help solve your issues related to financial matters, relationships, health and other such matters if you can communicate and reconnect with them.

Pitru Paksha Yagyas are designed to appease the souls of departed ancestors. These souls are subtle bodies which exist in a particular region of Bhuvalok (one of the seven 'lokas' or worlds). These Vedic rituals help liberate departed ancestors subtle bodies to the next higher sub-plane within Bhuvalok from the sub-plane they are stuck in currently. However, such rituals can at the most liberate the departed ancestors' subtle bodies to the next higher sub-plane within Bhuvalok itself but rituals cannot liberate the subtle bodies from Bhuvalok to the next higher plane, that is, 'Swargalok' or heaven. September Yagya Calendar

September 1st, 2010 (Wednesday): Janmashtami (Krishnaashtami): This is a very auspicious day and one of the extremely good days of Hindu Calendar. It is also a very powerful days to start any good thing. The VYC will be performing Maha Sudarshana Mantra Homam and  Sriman Narayana Ashtakshari Mantra Homa on this sacred day. It is said that sponsors of these Homas will be blessed and benefited with Divine protection, enemies will be defeated or removed, eradication of sins, "Moksha" (Salvation) and enlightenment. September 7th, 2010 (Tuesday): Masa Sivarathri, Pradhosham: The Vydic Yagya Center (VYC) will be performing Pradhosham, which includes the Ekadasha Rudrabhishekam & Rudra Homam. On this day special Abhishekam and Archana will be performed 11 times to the Sacred Shiva Lingam (also Known as 'Pindi') for His blessings followed by the sacred ritual of Rudra Homam. Sponsors of Pradosham will be blessed and benefited with good health, prosperity, eradication of poverty and all their desires will be fulfilled. September 11th, 2010 (Saturday): Ganesha Chaturthi (or Vinayaka Chavithi): The Vedic Yagya Center is celebrating 2010 Ganesha Chaturthi in a very special way during the Sacred Ganesha Navaraatri occasion. Individual or Family Sponsorship is $351.00 for this whole 9 days event (for people who live near Long Beach Port CA, the boat ride costs an additional $27 and includes lunch). September 19th, 2010 (Sunday): Vamana Jayanthi: The Vedic Yagya Center will be performing a very special Vishnu Sahastranama Homam. This is especially ideal for those who incurring any problems associated with the 'Graha Doshas' (Problems resulting from negative aspects in the birth stars). Lord Vishnu bestows the sponsor with the removal of all the ills associated with any 'Graha Doshas' (negativities associated with the birth star) to any chanter/ performer of any Nakshatra (stars or constellations) and also provides supreme solace and supreme bliss. The performer will also attain divine protection. Individual or Family Sponsorship is $51.00 for this whole event. Sponsor now.

September 22nd, 2010 (Wednesday): Anantha Chaturdasi: Anantha Vrata or Vratam is a Pooja to the Supreme Lord Vishnu that is observed on Anant Chaturdashi day. The fourteenth day in the bright fortnight (Suklapaksha) of the month of bhadrapada masa is known as Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Vrata. This is one of the very important days in the Vedic Calendar. This is a very special and auspicious day for those who seek salvation. VYC will be performing Anantha Padmanabhaswamy Vratham on this day. Sponsors of this event are said to be rid of all woes and difficulties and will acquire all kinds of wealth. Individual or Family Sponsorship is $51.00 for this whole event. Sponsor now.

fortnightSeptember  23rd - October 7th, 2010: Mahalaya Paksha (Pitru Paksha): The dark fortnight of Asweja (September-October) is known as the Mahalaya Paksha or the fortnight specially dedicated to the sacred offering to the dead ancestors' souls. The last day of this period, the new moon day, is considered to be the most important day in the year for performing obsequies and rites. On Mahalaya Amavasya, Brahmin Santarpana (massive feeding) is performed on behalf of dead ancestors to provide them peace in their world. The Vedic belief is that the Shraadha ritual performed on this Amavasya makes their dead ancestors free from all the sins they have committed when they were alive and provides them with salvation. VYC will be performing Special Program during this. VYC will be performing Pitru Tarpanams, Brahmin santarpana, and Dana every day.

Participants will be blessed by their dead ancestors, the souls of the departed ancestors will be relieved from all sins and attain Moksha (Salvation) and thus they will attain 'Divya Lokas' (Heaven). Individual or Family Sponsorship is $351.00 for this whole event. Sponsor now.
